Chemours Future of Chemistry Scholarship deadline nearing | News, Sports, Jobs



PARKERSBURG — High school students seeking hands-on training in electrical systems, maintenance repair, technician work and welding may apply to the Chemours Future of Chemistry Scholarship program until Dec. 31.

As part of Chemours’ Corporate Responsibility Commitment to increase access to science, technology, engineering and mathematics skills, the Chemours Future of Chemistry Scholarship program provides scholarships to talented, high-potential high school students who plan to pursue post-secondary studies in S.T.E.M.

Chemours, in collaboration with WVU Parkersburg will provide financial assistance to students pursuing degrees in advanced manufacturing, electrical reliability, maintenance, reliability and maintenance technology, welding technology, or mutlicraft technology. The scholarship’s maximum reward is $14,000 ($3,500 per semester).

“This is a real opportunity for students in the Mid-Ohio Valley to experience an academic path to a trades position,” Torie Jackson, WVU Parkersburg interim President “By partnering with companies like Chemours, we are able to provide programs that meet the needs of employers and help students find employment.”

The applicant must have completed or successfully completed high school and be a full-time student of WVU Parkersburg in the Fall 2023 semester.

Chemours, in partnership the West Virginia University at Parkersburg Workforce and Economic Development Division (Teen 3D Printing Academies) will be held from 9-1 on Tuesday, Dec. 27, at Chemours.

Ten students will attend, and each student will receive a 3D printer to take with them.

The instructional content covers 3D printing basics, how to build one, and the 3D process. You will also learn about Cura, 3D printing settings, 3D printing troubleshooting, and 3D printed in various professional fields.
