Arizona judge rules against Kari Lake’s election claims

PHOENIX Ariz. (NBC), Saturday’s ruling against Kari Lake, a republican who sought to overturn Arizona’s 2022 election.

This means Katie Hobbs will become the governor-elect for Arizona. The election will not be rerun.

Peter Thompson, a Superior Court Judge and former Republican Governor, was appointed. Jan Brewer affirmed that the court didn’t find any clear and convincing evidence that Lake had committed misconduct.

Lake did not provide evidence in support of her claims that she committed widespread, deliberate misconduct on Election Day. This was despite her two-day trial challenging her win to Katie Hobbs, Democrat, in the governor’s race.

Printer problems

Lake’s claim that printer problems at Maricopa County voting places were intentional acts that could have changed the race’s outcome was not supported by any evidence, according to Abha Khanna (a Hobbs lawyer). The race was won by just over 17,000 votes.

Lake’s lawyers concentrated on issues with the ballot printers at certain polling places in Maricopa County, which is home to over 60% of Arizona’s voters.

The defective printers created ballots that were too small to be read at the polling places by the on-site tabulators. The confusion caused some lines to clog.

Officials in the county say that everyone had the opportunity to vote. They also claim that all ballots were counted. In addition, any ballots affected with printer issues were sent to more sophisticated counters at Elections Department Headquarters.

The centerpiece of her campaign

Lake was nevertheless vocal in supporting the falsehoods of Donald Trump’s election.

These beliefs were the foundation of Lake’s campaign.

Lake is not like most other election deniers in the country who conceded after losing their races in Nov.

Instead, she’s asking the judge whether to declare her the winner or to order a revote within Maricopa County.
