Fake passport racket busted, mastermind held, aide on run | Chennai News


CHENNAI – A large fake passport racket has been busted in the state after a man tried to fly to Malaysia on 7 July.

The central crime unit of the Chennai police was alerted by the immigration authorities after Anthonysamy was caught with a false passport.
The police began investigating the fake passport’s source while Anthonysamy remained in custody. The trail led them there Mohamed Feroz Khan (45) Ananthur Village, Ramanathapuram. On August 3, he was arrested and police confiscated 105 fake passports as well as fake stamps and seals from government and other organisations, computers, printers, cash counting machines, 57,000 dollars in cash, Singapore, Thai, and Malaysian currencies, all at his residence and that of his assistant. Feroz Khan is the man behind the racket, according to police. He was assisted by Syed Abudahir Alangudi, Pudukottai. The police claimed that they would provide fake travel documents to those who wanted to go overseas, most often to Malaysia.
Feroz Khan has been placed in judicial custody, and the hunt for his assistant is underway.
The police warned people against applying for visas or passports via agents. The police advised that all necessary documents should be submitted to Regional Passport Offices for passports and visas to be obtained through consular offices.
