32-Year-Old Arrested For Selling Fake Currency In Malad


Mumbai: Malvani police said a man aged 32 was arrested on suspicion of trying to sell fake currency. It had a face-value of Rs 4,000. His house was searched and paraphernalia, worth Rs 7 Lakh, needed for printing counterfeit currency was found. Umesh K. has been named as the accused. The police received a tip on June 22 about a suspicious individual moving near Ganesh Mandir Gate Number 1, Malvani in Malad West.

The police raided the neighborhood and arrested Kumar. The police discovered eight fake Rs500 notes in his pockets. The police said that he confessed during the interrogation.

A search of the residence of the suspect led to several incriminating items being seized, including a colour laser printer, two pendrives, four mobile phones a micro-memory card, blank paper, a laptop and an iPod. He was booked under section 489B of the Indian Penal Code (using counterfeit, fake or forged currency notes or banknotes).
