COLOMBO: An individual was arrested for giving 5000 rupee counterfeit notes to pay a compensation in a case heard in the Mahiyangana District Court.
The suspect, a 39-year-old resident of Giradurukotte, is the prime suspect.
The court received 21,000 rupees from him, and it was discovered that 5000 of those were counterfeit notes.
In the Galpatha region, a couple were arrested for presenting a counterfeit note of 5000 rupees to a local shop.
The police stated that after further questioning the suspects they found 11 more fake 5000 rupee notes, as well as the printer used to create the notes. These were all located at a house in Kalutara South Police.
The couple is 47 years old and resides in Kalutara.
